Ana's Skincare Routine (April 2025)

And my first blog post!

In the words of American singer and songwriter Sabrina Carpenter, I’ll keep this short n’ sweet.

My morning routine:

  • Cleanser

  • Moisturizer

  • Sunscreen

My evening routine:

  • Oil cleanser

  • Honey & turmeric mask (1-2x a week)

  • Cleanser

  • Black seed oil

  • Retinol (3 days on, 3 days off)

  • Moisturizer

I made some nice little graphics (and the pictures link to the product)!

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil ($31.50)

I’ve tried three oil cleansers (plus a few balms), and this is the only one that I have been more than happy to repurchase. Other cleansers have left my skin feeling too oily, and some have even broken me out. My bottles last me about two months.

Moringa soap from Miracle Garden ($6.00)

When I purchased moringa powder, this soap was a cheap add-on—and I needed a new regular cleanser at the time. I’ve liked using this as a cleanser, but I wouldn’t say it’s anything special. I’ll probably try a new cleanser and have this as a backup if needed.

Can’t say enough good things about this oil. I’ve noticed that some of my redness has decreased, and I feel that my skin has evened out more. My partner even commented on how my skin has been looking more even 😊

MadHippie Super A Serum ($33.99)

So, fun story: I’ve had acne since fourth grade. I’ve tried probably 50 different types of actives to get rid of acne and scars, and I’ve always come back to retinol. I started off using Paula’s Choice retinol and bakuchiol product in fourth grade, and here I am using a retinol and bakuchiol product around fifteen years later (I think the math maths). I’m liking this so far, but I haven’t been using it for too long. I’ll keep everyone updated.

Illiyoon Ato Concentrate Cream ($19.60)

I am totally, definitely, undoubtedly into this moisturizer. I prefer heavier moisturizers to really lock in whatever products are underneath, and this moisturizer delivers. Personally, it’s heavy enough for the winter and light enough for the summer. Another moisturizer that keeps making its way back into my cabinet is AESTURA Ato Barrier (but this one is a little pricier and only lasts a month).

haruharu wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ ($22.00)

And we’ve made it to the end! Similar to serums, I have tried countless sunscreens. I rarely purchase the same one in a row, but I really, really like this one (as you can tell from the picture, this one is pretty much squeezed dry). Highly recommend, as it’s difficult to find sunscreens that 1) have 50+ SPF, 2) don’t leave a terrible white cast, and 3) don’t break you out. From what I can tell, this one meets my three criteria.

I’ll leave everyone with that! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more on self-care and well-being. My two cents on finances will come next week 🤩
