One Day in Boston
Well, technically two days, but only one night. We're rolling with it.

Just last week, I went on my second work trip ever š We went to the city of Dunkinā and the Red Sox and clam chowda.
Without further ado, on to the recs and the not-recs:

Legal Sea Foods
I ate a lobsta for the first time. Honestly, I wasnāt a huge fan, but I would try again. It was a little bland, and the butter didnāt help too much. It was fun learning how to eat it, though!
Iām going to keep my opinion mostly to myself because apparently Legal Sea Foods holds the heart of many a Bostonian. I did get the recommendation from someone who lived in Boston that if youāre only staying for a day or two, skip Legal and try somewhere else. Thatās all Iāll say š

The Bittersweet Shoppe on Newbury
Honestly, I wasnāt super impressed with my coffee. I tried the raspberry truffle iced coffee. Typically, I enjoy a good raspberry mocha, but this one wasnāt anything special. Take this with a grain of salt, though, because I donāt think what I got is what theyāre known for.
The redeeming item I had here was the good old yogurt parfait. Whatever yogurt they used was AMAZING, and the berries seemed fresh and well-picked. If youāre making your way down Newbury in the morning, head here for a quick breakfast (but maybe not a coffee).

L.A. Burdick Chocolates
I had another coffee at Burdickās (right off of Newbury Street). Very, VERY chocolatey. It was pretty good, but extremely rich. Iād give it a solid 6.8/10. It was the better of the two coffees I had in Boston, but the richness was almost too much for me.
The raspberry chocolate opera cake was DELICIOUS! I mentioned earlier that I like raspberry and chocolate, and this cake is why. If youāre strolling this famous shopping street during your time in Boston, make sure to stop in and get a slice.

Modern Pastry Shop
Modern is certainly worth the hype, in my humble opinion as a cannoli connoisseur.
While I donāt have a photo of my cannoli, trust that it looked good (and it tasted as good, if not better, than it looked). If youāre in Boston, youāre probably stopping in North End for good Italian food or pastries. If stopping at Modern wasnāt on your list of to-dos, add it.

Slowing Time Down In Boston
It felt like a pretty long one (two) days. Not least because I woke up at 3:30 AM for the flight and didnāt go to bed until 11:00 PM the first dayā¦
But ignoring that, time felt a little bit slower because I tried so many new things and met new people.
I know that itās a privilege to hop on a plane to go on a trip (even a work trip), so Iām not going to sit here and say, āSpend your money on a weekend get-a-way in order to slow time down!ā
I will sit here and say, āFind new people to meet. Go to a park, or walk around window shopping. Try a new recipe, or recreate your favorite treat. Just do something different.ā
The reason I care about slowing time down is because I donāt want to reach a point in life where I feel like everything went by too quickly. I feel that even this summer has gone by so fast, but slower than the last because Iām trying new things almost every day.
So, hereās a gentle reminder to find something new to do today or tomorrow. And, if youāre ever in Boston, add a few of these activities to your itinerary!

P.P.S. Iāll be talking about resumes next week. Finding a job that you enjoy (enough) can greatly improve your well-being, and your resume is typically your first impression for a company. Iāve had a rocky road with my own resume, but Iāve picked up a few things along the way that Iād like to share š
